Application Profile: Receiving Labels Where: Warehouses receiving departments and service centers Description: Upon receipt of goods, bar coded labels are applied, information is scanned and captured, and the product is "put away" in bins. The bins are also labeled (see bin labeling) and the bin label is scanned as the product is put away to record its location. The process of labeling cartons and products and receiving is eliminated if the receiver has a compliance program, forcing the shipper to pre-label per the receiver's format (see shipping labels and compliance). Color coding labels is also common and a good application for color thermal transfer.
