How do I turn my modem speaker off?

Try going to My Computer, Dial Up Networking.  Right-click once on the icon for your connection.  Choose Properties.  On the window that pops up, click the button that says "Configure".  Change your modem volume there and click OK and then OK on the previous screen.  Close out your Dial Up Networking screen and try dialing up to see if that fixed it.
